Biotech Act II: call for evidence

On 13 May, the European Commission launched a call for contributions regarding the Biotech Act II, a major forthcoming legislative initiative for the future of industrial biotechnology and bioproduction in Europe. The consultation is open until 10 June.

The Biotechnology Act II will primarily aim to complement the European Biotechnology Regulation I by extending its scope to industrial biotechnology and bioproduction, addressing cross-cutting challenges and establishing a regulatory framework conducive to industrial biotechnology and bioproduction within the EU.

This consultation is aimed at a wide range of stakeholders: researchers, entrepreneurs, industry representatives, investors, biotechnology companies, civil society… but also at all those who believe in the potential of biotechnology for Europe’s future.

This is a concrete opportunity to contribute to the debate and enrich the collective discussion on the conditions necessary for the development of a market for bio-based products in Europe.
