SIA25 - Research-industry meeting on bio-based products

On February 25, 2025, the PEPR B-BEST animation team organized a meeting on bio-based products at the INRAE stand at the agricultural show, bringing together research and industry.

This session explored how research is responding to current challenges in bio-based products and sustainable fuels, thanks to enriching discussions between scientific and industrial experts.

On the agenda:

  • Perspective on the challenges of the bioeconomy and presentation of the PEPR B-BEST with Monique Axelos (Co-director of PEPR B-BEST – INRAE), AbdelHakim Koudil (Co-director of PEPR B-BEST – IFPEN) and Michael O'Donohue (Head of Axis 5 Bioeconomy of the PEPR B-BEST – INRAE).
  • Presentation of major innovations: from understanding plant biomass at all scales (Gabriel Paës – Head of the FillingGaps project – INRAE, FARE) to biofuels (Antonio Pires da Cruz – IFPEN), including bio-based resins (Sophie Jullemier – Michelin, Résicare project) and the biorefinery of organic waste (Louise Rigaud Eléna Roques Charpentier Manon – INRAE, PROSE, ElectroMIC project).
  • A round table moderated by Audrey Magnin (B4C) highlighted the current challenges facing manufacturers and shared their expectations for research, with Mathieu Brandibat (SGPI), Sophie MARQUIS (ACDV), Olivier Galet (Avril Group), and Regis Marchand (SEPPIC).

Philippe Mauguin (CEO of INRAE), Pierre-Franck CHEVET (Managing Director of IFPEN), and Carole Caranta (Deputy Managing Director of Science and Innovation, INRAE) did us the honor of opening and closing this inspiring meeting!
